Donna
Kato is a well known polymer clay author,teacher,product developer and
artist who has worked in the medium for many years. Her book,"The Art
of Polymer Clay" (Watson Guptill) published in 1997 remains one of the
most popular and respected texts on the subject. Within the polymer clay
community, she is best known for her technical innovation and the ability
to present concepts in a clear, concise and organized manner. Her work
has been included in other texts as well, including "Creating With
Polymer Clay" (Ford and Dierkes), "Foundations in Polymer Clay" (McGuire),
"The Polymer Clay Techniques Book" (Heaser), "Polymer Clay: Creating Functional
and Decorative Objects" (Gikow) and "Your Guide to Creativity" (Better
Homes & Gardens and JoAnn Stores) a comprehensive guide to crafts and
crafting.
Through
the years, she has worked with virtually all the clays marketed in the
United States having started as a demonstrator for Kemper Enterprises,
functioned as artist in residence at Polyform Products and served as consultant
to Eberhard Faber in the United States. This experience provided the expertise
required to embark on the journey with Van Aken International resulting
in the formulation and production of Kato Polyclay.
Donna
is a regular guest on HGTV "The Carol Duvall Show", and has
appeared frequently on "Home Matters". She has released,through MindStorm
Productions, four instructional videotapes with more scheduled for future
release.
Her
publication credits include "Jewelry Crafts", where she is a
Contributing Editor, "Bead and Button", "Lapidary Journal", "Better Homes
and Gardens", "Women's Day" (SIP), "Arts &Crafts", "Great American
Crafts", to name only a few.
Donna
has participated in gallery shows including The Masters Invitational Polymer
Clay Show, the POP Show, The Society of Arts and Crafts Polymer Clay Show
and the Bead Museum Show.
