Rolling pin or rod
Having something to roll sheets of clay with is very important. A rolling pin or rod is an essential tool for conditioning and making thin slabs of clay. Although wooden rolling pins work, clay tends to stick to them and they need to be cleaned frequently. PVC pipes or acrylic rods (like the Kato Clay Roller) are recommended because clay will not get stuck on them, making clean up easy.
Pasta machines are a very useful tool. It is possible to create projects without one; however, to make uniformly thick or thin sheets of clay, it is an essential piece of equipment. This tool also helps with the conditioning process.
